our vision
Revised partners with the Central Des Moines community to offer hope and purpose to at-risk youth. Students learn construction and life skills through home remodeling and repairing, mentoring and character building.
Revised purposes to bring renewal to the city by fostering authentic relationships with young people and community members. Youth have much to offer, and the work they do to improve local homes with Revised will showcase their talents and inspire neighbors.
Revised shows young people they are valuable by encouraging them and guiding them through meaningful skill building opportunities. We share meals, have real conversations and listen to students' stories, struggles and victories. We have fun, work through the problem solving process and learn in a safe, loving environment.
Revised empowers students to pursue their dreams and career goals and challenges them to positively impact others' lives in the Central Des Moines area.
Who we are
Caleb and Erika see the process of home remodeling as a powerful picture of the restoration God brings to all our lives. They enjoy finding damaged houses full of rubble, rebuilding what's broken, and uncovering hidden beauty to share with the community.
Caleb has been in construction as a licensed electrician for fifteen years and received the Central Campus Community Partner Award in the spring of 2016 for his work with the Home Building Class.
Erika was a high school teacher for nine years and taught in an alternative classroom as part of Des Moines Public Schools' Drop Out Prevention Program helping credit deficient students earn their diplomas.
The two have a passion for guiding teens to discover their talents. They have gotten to know many inspirational young people by volunteering regularly at Wildwood Hills Ranch and with the local Oakridge Neighborhood and Edmunds Elementary.
